"Stitching a Legacy; The Symbolism in African American Quilts"
February 2-April 3, 2021

Did you know that symbols were sewn into quilts and placed at strategic places along the underground railroad to help escaping slaves navigate to freedom? Join the Gregg County Historical Museum as we celebrate Black History Month be delving into the symbolism used in quilts during the days of the underground railroad with a special exhibit entitled "Stitching a Legacy; The Symbolism in African American Quilts". Experience a special presentation by the Pleasant Hill Quilt Club on Saturday, March 27th at 10:00 a.m. and 2:00 p.m. This group of wonderful ladies will explain various symbols and how they are interpreted in quilt patterns.
